Lots to catch up on!

There has been lots going on in our little family! I will update with pics as soon as we get our computer set back up.
We moved into the new house December 10th. Never will I move during Christmas again! Not that I want to move again. :). It put me way behind on shopping and even just getting the house ready.
We also got word of an adoption! The baby GIRL ( Carley Allison) is due April 24th. We are praying hard that this adoption goes through. I will have to post about how God has worked in all of this. This baby already has an amazing story.
Hoping to totally redo my blog ASAP. Now with us living away from all of our family I really want to keep then updated.

Crok pot BBQ Pulled Pork

Hey everyone! I am linking up with Kelly and Crokpotalooza 2 today. I am obsessed with my crock pot lately. I love that I can just throw something in there and not have to worry about it. I also love using the crock pot this time of year for soup! We love taco soup! I didn't do the taco soup because there are already several variations up. I will do another family favorite. It is so easy. I made it last night and forgot to take pics so all of my pics will be coming from Pinterest. Sorry. Here is the recipe for BBQ pulled pork
Image is from The Girl Who Ate Everything. Get ready for the super long easy list BBQ pork 2lbs pork butt roast(I do larger so we have leftovers) 1 12 oz can of Rootbeer for every 2 lbs of meat 1 18 oz favorite bbq sauce for every 2 lbs of meat Place pork in crock pot and pour in rootbeer. Cook on low for 8 hours. Meat will fall apart as you take it out of the crock pot! Discard rootbeer and put pork back in crock pot. Pull meat apart with forks and mix in BBQ sauce. That's it! This is one of our favorites. Hope you enjoy it! Jessica

Updates

Well the house is coming along great. I don't have any updated pics because they locked us out! HA! They put the cabinets in last Friday and then locked it up. I guess I should be grateful they protect our money. :) Sam came home Friday! It was a super quick trip though. Kinda made it hard for him to leave again. He has two more weeks in training. Of course, he is training in VEGAS. Um, hello. 6 weeks in VEGAS. He was ready to come home after week 2. We are thinking of switching Jake to a different school. He isn't happy because he wont be able to ride his bike to and from school everyday. I just want to make sure we are comfortable with where he is and in an environment that shares the same beliefs we do. Sorry no pics this post. I promise to be better with blogging and pics later this week. Have a blessed Friday! Jessica

New soccer team

What a beautiful day! So beyond thankful for the cooler temps. It has been crazy hot here this week. I think it got up to 106 on Wednesday! Anyway, today was the start of the fall soccer season. Jake has played soccer since he was 4 and loves it! This year is very different though. Burleson is much more competitive than Texarkana was. They are even allowed to have goalies. Jake was picked to be a goalie this year! I have to admit that I think that is exactly where he needs to be!
It is so funny because he is always the biggest kid in his age group. Some of the other kids are scared he will run them over. It has only happened a few times! HA!
I am hoping to do some updating on my blog. I am trying to get better at keeping it updated and adding pic since we have moved away from our family :( I am loving Burleson and being in the DFW are though. If you know of people that are good at blog designing let me know! Have a great weekend. Get out and enjoy it! Jess

First day of second grade!

Wahoo! Jake started second grade this year. He is by far the tallest kid in his class. He is kinda proud of that one.
I always forget to have Sam take my pic with him. Oh well, I am just glad I got Jake to pose for me! He has decided he shouldn't take pictures. He was willing to let me snap several different ones.
I had to keep myself from crying. This was a big deal for both of us. I have homeschooled Jake the last 3 years, so this was a big change on top of moving! We thought this would be a great way for Jake to meet new friends. Sam is just a typical guy that doesn't seem to get emotional about anything!
He has liked school so far. He is ahead of his group because of the stuff we have covered the last 3 years. He said he liked being the smartest. Ha. He will go to this school the full year, even after the new house is finished. I was wanting him to start at the school where we were building but they have new rules and he cant go until the house is finished. I think we will let him stay the full school year where he is at and transfer at the beginning of next year. I worried that being the new kid in the middle of the year would be rough. Once again, hubby said I worry to much!

Walls

We have walls! I didn't get to make it out to the new house yesterday so I was shocked to see what they had accomplished!
Jake was super excited to see the progress. We went right after school so the guys were still working. I wanted to go in and walk around! We did get to meet one of our neighbors and she has a son in the second grade as well. She said there were about 4 more boys either in second or close to second grade. Plus, there were several girls that age as well. She said there were tons of kids in the neighborhood! She said about 6 families got together Labor day weekend and had a huge water balloon fight. Sam and Jake will fit right in. Just wanted to do a quick update on the house. I still have to post Jake's first day of school!

New construction

I finally have pics that I can share!! We have settled in the rent house, finally. Jake has made a few friends in the neighborhood. I love being here in Burleson. It is close enough to Ft.Worth to go and have fun, but it is far enough to still feel like a neat small town. We have everything finalized for the new house and they have already started construction! The date to officially move in is December 14th, but they figure it will be done before then. David Swafford has been amazing to work with. Highly recommend his homes to anyone. Here are some pics of the beginning process! I will keep posting pics as stuff changes.
Needless to say, Jake is enjoying all the dirt. He was a muddy mess after this. This is looking out from where the patio will be. The bottom picture is of me standing where our back door will be looking to the front of the house.
Jake was so excited when we pulled up and there were tons of kids playing. He was really excited when he said he saw a cute girl. Ha! Lord, we are in for a mess when he gets older!

On the road again

Well we will be moving at the end of the month. I am excited and Jake is as well. Sam is already down in Ft.Worth working and we cant wait to join him. I honestly didn't think we would ever move again. Sam and I moved to Little Rock when we got married. It was really nice! It was close to home but we were able to start our lives somewhere new. We made tons of friends and were members of an amazing church. We had been married for 5 years when we had Jake. It was really hard not having any family at all where we were. We decided that we wanted to come back to Texarkana to be with our family. Many things have happened and I am glad Jake has the relationship with aunts, uncles, grandparents and cousins that he does. Sam had been thinking about a change for our family. I knew he had been praying for some answers on what we should do. I prayed with him and knew God would answer when He was ready. Sam was sitting in bed one night and we started talking about the possibility of moving. I jokingly said if we ever moved it would have to be back to Little Rock because I would never go to Dallas. Two (just 2) days later he calls and tells me he has been called for an interview in FT. Worth!!! WHAT! That's in the opposite direction of Little rock! Needless to say, things happened very quickly. The company was really wanting Sam to come and we prayed some very specific things. God answered every single prayer. Some were almost exactly what we asked and some answers were even bigger. We will be renting a house for at least 6 months in a wonderful town. We fell in love with Burleson when were went looking for houses. I honestly was scared of living in Ft.worth. It just seemed way to big! HA! We are praying about building a house once our lease is up. That is something I am so excited about! P.S. I promise to start taking pics when we get to our new house! HA!

Horrible blogger

Confession 1. I love reading all of your blogs.
Confession 2. I really STINK at writing my own!
Confession 3. I am really bad about not getting pictures on here!
We have had some amazing things happen here at our house. I don't have pics uploaded yet so they will have to wait. Just wanted to drop in and share our most favorite news.

Jake accepted Jesus!!!!! My heart cannot be any happier. This has been my prayer for a long time. I am the children's pastor at our church so Jake has basically grown up going to church. He attends Awana ( and is pretty awesome at his verses!) and had really been asking questions since the end of last summer. We wanted him to fully understand what everything meant so we just took our time with his questions. He woke up Friday morning , Feb. 24th, and said that he thought he was ready to ask Jesus in his heart. We talked about it and he decided he wanted to talk to our friends, the Fischers. I called and we headed over there. Ronnie basically asked/talked about all the other things we had discussed and we knew that he fully understood what everything meant!
He was shy about praying and I told him that he should do it when he was ready. Saturday night at 9:30 he asked if we could call Mr. Ronnie! He came right over and we watched as Jake prayed and asked Jesus to be his Savior!
We have some wonderful friends that were our youth pastors. They moved to Tennessee in August so that John could attend seminary. Jake absolutly adores John and Mandie. He couldn't wait to tell John that night. I think it was around 10 when we let Jake call! Jake asked to wait until John could baptize him. Jake was baptized on March the 14th!
We are so blessed to have such wonderful friends in our lives. I am most thankful that Jake understand the love of God. Jake smiled and said "hey Momma, now my name is in the book of life."
